NEW - Professional Prints
We are delighted to be able to offer a range of high-quality canvas, mounted and standard prints of most of our images. As well as being suitable to complement your home, these prints can make a fabulous wedding, anniversary or birthday gift. Simply find an image that you like via the A-Z, Gazetteer or Map indexes, and click the link underneath it to discover how to purchase.
Maybe you have come here to see photos of some local churches for your wedding? Your child's christening? Your own baptism? Or perhaps you are researching an ancestor's funeral? Whilst I cannot offer assistance with any day-to-day or research activities, I hope that this collection of images helps you towards your goal.
The site is a mixture of images taken mainly by me, but with some from other photographers. I no longer accept unsolicited submissions for inclusion, as editing or resizing and then adding other people's pictures as they arrive is too much of an overhead. My older church photos (between 2002 and 2008) were all added to the site at the now seemingly miniscule size of 460 pixels on the long side. I now add high quality church photographs at 800 pixels - partly due to a site overhaul, and also due to larger screen sizes and faster download speeds.
I intend to encompass all churches of any architectural note in the county of Essex. I started the project with a rather strict criteria for inclusion, which was Church of England, 1930s or earlier; though it was not long before I decided that due to my own dissatisfaction with the restrictions that imposed, I would widen the scope to cover any Christian church of any period - with the only real stipulation that it must have some serious architectural interest. Please take a look around; I hope you will enjoy your visit! Please also consider joining our Google +1 page, our Facebook page, our Twitter feed or the Essex Churches Yahoo! Group (free membership). If you are a social network addict, we'd love to see you on all of these channels!
Surprisingly, although I have removed the old 'weddings' page from the menu above, it seems that people are still finding it via Google. I will re-work them back into the main menu at some point - but for now, you can click here to access them.
